The Trial Innovation Network (TIN) is a collaborative national network within the CTSA Program to support innovation in multi-center clinical trials and studies.
We now have the ability to add interpreters on-demand to virtual visits through a vendor, Stratus Video, for more than 150 different languages by audio or video. This will greatly expand access to care for many patients with Limited English Proficiency. This capability is live now, and the Virtual Health Team has provided guidance through tip sheets.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated the Device Shortage List on the web page that lists Medical Device Shortages During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.
The FDA will be holding a public meeting to gather input on the scientific and ethical issues that surround the inclusion of pregnant women in clinical trials for drug development. The meeting will be held on 2/2/21 from 10am-2pm and 2/3/21 from 10am-1pm.
The IRB ID from InfoEd (aka COMIRB numbers) are required on the Protocol Assessment Form for each submission to the HSR Portal. When this information is not included, the submission will be sent back to the submitter.

FDA is informing patients and health care providers that patients may be injured if they wear face masks (such as surgical or non-surgical masks and respirators) with metal parts and coatings during a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exam. The FDA recommends patients wear face masks with no metal during MRIs.
In accordance with the UCHealth Research Billing Policy, when an add-on occurs, it is the research teams’ responsibility to add a proper billing note to the visit to inform the billers to where that charge should directed (research vs. insurance). In the absence of a proper billing note, all add-on charges will be billed to the research account by default.
Beginning Monday, December 7, 2020, if COMIRB receives a submission involving CHCO without a CHCO clearance letter, COMIRB will return the application with instructions to resubmit once the required clearance letter has been uploaded.
