UCHealth COVID-19 Vaccine Policy
Sep 24, 2021
Protecting our patients, visitors, staff and providers is always UCHealth's top priority. The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective, and it has been shown to prevent almost all serious cases and deaths from COVID-19. Just as we require influenza vaccines and PPE, UCHealth has expanded its vaccination policy to include the COVID-19 vaccine to increase safety for everyone. The Colorado Board of Health voted to implement a vaccine mandate for workers at hospitals, nursing homes and other state health care facilities following a request from Gov. Jared Polis (D). The state's vaccination mandate includes contractors and vendors.
All staff, providers, students, vendors and contractors are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or to receive an approved exemption. All vendors and contractors who enter UCHealth facilities must be compliant by 11:59pm on October 1st, 2021. Compliance with the policy is defined as completing the full vaccination series of a COVID-19 vaccine (including both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or the single J&J vaccine dose) or receiving an approved exemption from your employer.
Anyone who works full or part-time, who receives an approved medical or religious waiver and does not receive the COVID-19 vaccine will be required to wear a mask at all times in UCHealth locations and receive twice weekly COVID-19 PCR tests. If an unvaccinated person removes their mask for any reason other than eating or drinking, they will be asked to leave the premises and may face disciplinary action up to and including termination of contract and privileges.
With the State of Colorado's reporting requirements, vendors are being asked to regularly submit staff information to VendorVaccine@UCHealth.org. Additionally, Internal Audit will be completing random audits to ensure vendor compliance with our vaccine requirements.
