Study Monitoring Committee

The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus Study Monitoring Committee (SMC) is a campus wide, institutional committee whose members are experts in the field of clinical research with diverse experience. Using data entered into OnCore, the committee is charged to:

  • Review recruitment metrics for ongoing studies
  • Identify low-accruing studies that are at risk for not meeting their stated recruitment goals
  • Evaluate and promote the appropriate inclusion of older adults in clinical research
  • Monitor recruitment success and strategies to enhance the inclusion of underrepresented populations

Identify and provide potential resources and guidance as needed for trials that are not meeting their stated accrual goals.  A study is identified as low accruing if:

  • has been open between 6 – 9 months and accrued less than 25% of the annual accrual goal
  • has been open between 10 – 11 months and accrued less than 40% of the annual accrual goal.
