Study Monitoring Committee

CU Anschutz and CU Denver Study Monitoring Committee (SMC) is a campus-wide, institutional committee whose members are experts in the field of clinical research with diverse experience. Using data entered into OnCore, the committee is charged to:

  • Review recruitment metrics for ongoing studies
  • Identify low-accruing studies that are at risk for not meeting their stated recruitment goals
  • Evaluate and promote the appropriate inclusion of older adults in clinical research
  • Monitor recruitment success and strategies to enhance the inclusion of underrepresented populations
  • Identify and provide potential resources and guidance as needed for trials that are not meeting their stated accrual goals
  • Collect detailed information on the age at enrollment of research volunteers across all studies
  • Monitor the inclusion of underrepresented minorities across all studies
