Important Announcements
The Office of Grants and Contracts wishes you a wonderful holiday season!
We hope for all, a joyful and relaxing time, as you prepare for the New Year. We are thankful for your partnership and look forward to an eventful year to come.
Along with the rest of the campus, the Office of Grants and Contracts will be closed from the end of business Friday, December 23 through January 2. Please plan for all sponsored project deadlines accordingly and work with us to coordinate as needed.
What type of budget format should I attach to my formstack request for an outgoing subrecipient agreement or amendment?
We use a particular budget template format in all outgoing sub agreements and monetary amendments. This allows our post award team, contracting team, and sub sites to have full visibility and clarity around the details of the subrecipient budget to avoid unnecessary ambiguity down the road. It is particularly helpful in clarifying when carryforward is involved and how the budget flows from year to year for multi-year awards.
We breakdown the budget templates into two different excel workbooks with multiple tabs.
Which budget template should I use?
Check out the budget scenarios document below that includes some examples that you can use to match to your situation.
And voila! You won’t get an email from us asking for a different budget template and we’ll be able to return a draft to you without further delay.
What about the detailed budget we included with our budget justification submission?
This does not provide the same clarity as our budget template, but we can use this in limited circumstances. At the very least, it must include a breakdown of the F&A rate and total costs associated with the budget for the site.
We are happy to announce that several new updates will be coming to the Office of Grants and Contracts website in January 2023! OGC has worked with department partners and listened to their feedback in order to improve the user website experience. Below are some of the areas that have been revised:
Please check back in the January newsletter for additional information on key changes.
Upcoming Town Hall hosted by CRIO Tuesday, December 13.
Providing a Data Management Plan is required for most proposals after January 25 (see the NIH for more guidance, NIH Data Management and Sharing Policies website).
The NIH has a draft template that outlines elements that must be addressed in a data management and sharing plan, including documentation of data types, tools and software, standards, preservation, access control and distribution, and institutional compliance. For budget data, see November’s newsletter.
More information is available at the Town Hall and DMSP on the Research Informatics Office website. To attend the CRIO Town Hall, please Register Here.
Did you know NCURA puts out short YouTube videos every Tuesday? The videos have a wide variety of content from PreAward to Post Award. Please see the link from November 22nd related to Monitoring Expenses. You can also find additional content under NCURA1959 and can subscribe via YouTube.

Our 1st floor, west wing location in the Fitzsimons Building is currently under construction. The Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) is temporarily located in the same building on the 5th floor, west wing in Suite W5130 during construction. While OGC continues to perform most services in a remote capacity, when we are on campus, we are working in this temporary space. We are still available via a variety of methods - refer to the OGC website (about halfway down the page).
No changes are needed to our mailing address as mail is not impacted, and we have posted notices for any FedEx drop off items to come to our temporary space. Thank you for your patience during this time.
