NIH Salary Cap Update
NIH (National Institutes of Health)has updated the salary cap for 2024 to $221,900. Please see the NIH Notice for more details about this year's cap.
It is also important to note there are many private sponsors that also use NIH cap as part of their policy. These include the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDF), the American Cancer Society (ACS), and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (SGKBCF) and National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS). Please note that this listing is not all inclusive. There could be various other agencies that have adopted the salary cap. So, please be aware of sponsor policies when submitting grant proposals. Another Sponsor we have that enforces a salary cap is Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). They use an annual capped rate of $200,000. Therefore, when setting up pay on a PCORI award that is the cap that will apply.
You can find help in determining funding distribution in the A-Z section of our OGC website under Salary Cap Calculation.
Recent NIH Guide Updates for Closeout
NIH continues to focus on timely closeouts in recent NIH Guidance updates. This includes increased visibility of institutions with unilateral closeouts, and notification for timely closeouts and reporting. We need your help in meeting these deadlines. Expenses must be finalized as soon as possible after the end date for us to succeed.
Please see the recent article in NIH Extramural Newsletter for specific updates and changes.
PeopleSoft Finance Annual Update
The PeopleSoft Finance update is expected to live on 2/18/2024 and with this update you will find some of the pages may have a fresh look. One example is the screen used to create a new JE (Journal Entry), or to look for an existing JE.
You add from the main page, or in the upper right corner to find an existing value,, where there used to be two tabs, one for adding and one for finding.
Another example is searching for a Speedtype.
The changes you will see are all in those search type of pages, so anywhere you look up a value, you will see slight changes to the search screens and results. The values you choose to search for have not changed. If you currently work in HCM, you may see a familiar look and feel to the pages.
Please take time to visit the Annual Update Webpage to see samples of the screens. Thank you for taking the time to familiarize yourself with this upcoming change. If you have questions about the update related to grants administration tasks after the change, please contact your Post Award Administrator.
