Refer to the Biological Spills/Exposures webpage for guidance on spills and exposures involving hazardous biological materials, such as human blood and other human-derived materials, cultures of infectious agents or genetically modified materials. An overview of the guidance is below.
If you are exposed to bloodborne pathogens or potentially infectious material:
Fill out the Incident Report Form for Biological Hazards, and submit the completed form to firstname.lastname@example.org. Report within 24 hours any incidents involving biological hazards such as recombinant DNA, microorganisms, human-derived materials, or other potentially infectious materials.
If a biological or chemical agent contacts your eye or skin:
For needlestick or injury to the skin, wash with soap and warm water.
Carefully remove contaminated clothing and place into a sealed bag.
