Pre-IRB Reviews for Research involving Children’s Hospital Colorado
Dec 2, 2020
Research occurring at Children’s Hospital Colorado may require additional pre-IRB reviews before they can be submitted for review by COMIRB. This includes studies using medical record data from CHCO. After submission to the human subject’s research portal you will be notified by CHCO of any CHCO-specific pre-IRB reviews that are needed for your study.
Once these reviews have been completed you will receive a clearance letter from Children’s to submit your application to COMIRB. If no pre-IRB review is needed, a clearance letter will also be provided. The clearance letter must be submitted with your COMIRB submission in order for COMIRB review to occur. For additional information on the Children’s start-up process please visit the CHRE Sharepoint. If you have additional questions please contact the CHCO Research Start-Up team at ResearchStartup@childrenscolorado.org.
Beginning Monday, December 7, 2020, if COMIRB receives a submission involving CHCO without a clearance letter from CHCO, COMIRB will return the application as incomplete, with instructions to resubmit once the required clearance letter has been attached to the submission.
