Update - No Cost Extension

On August 7, 2025, NOT-0D-25-142 updated the research community that NIH has re-enabled the No-Cost Extension functionality within eRA Commons. Certain NIH awards may now be extended through this option during the final budget period for up to 12 months when the following conditions are met:
If no additional funds are required from the NIH awarding office;
If there will be no change in the project’s originally approved scope; and
If no term of award specifically prohibits the extension.
OGC encourages PIs and departments to start the process within 90 days prior to the end date. Please review the OGC No Cost Extensions (NCE Request) webpage for further guidance or reach out to [email protected] for assistance.
