RPPR Early Submissions
Pre-Award

Some NIH ICs have Requested Early Submission of RPPRs
Please be aware that your PO or IC official may ask you to submit your RPPR early: We have been notified that it is occurring within some agencies and some programs - there is no clear NIH mandate at this time.
Following is an example we have received from NIAID: "According to our records, you have a NIH National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) grant or cooperative agreement with a Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR) due date that cycles based on a March 2026 budget start date. It is encouraged that, for awards with a budget start date in March 2026, these RPPRs for NIAID awards be submitted one month prior to the established overall NIH due date. For example, if NIH requires that your RPPR is due by January 15th, NIAID encourages submission by December 15th."
