Updated CDMRP Requirements
Pre-Award
Jul 21, 2025The Department of Defense’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) has officially adopted the NIH Common Formats for the Biographical Sketch (biosketch) and Other Support documents. Effective immediately for current funding opportunities, this change reflects a significant shift toward standardizing disclosure requirements across federal agencies in alignment with national research security priorities, including NSPM-33.
In most cases, biosketches and other support documents are required for all senior/key personnel listed in CDMRP proposals. Be sure to review your specific Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to confirm submission requirements.
What This Means for CDMRP Applicants
- CDMRP applicants must now use the Common Form Biosketch for senior/key personnel. This can be generated through Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv), while this can be completed using the manually official Common Form template we highly suggest using SciENcv’s NIH or NSF options.
- Applicants are strongly encouraged to use SciENcv to manage and generate biosketches and other support documents. SciENcv ensures proper formatting and integration of data from trusted sources such as ORCID and eRA Commons. We do recognize that this tool is not perfect, but it is a step in the right direction.
- Certification Requirement: When downloading forms from SciENcv, senior/key personnel must certify that their information is current, accurate, and complete, including all domestic and foreign appointments and positions.
- NIH Timeline: NIH has postponed its implementation of the Common Forms; CDMRP is proceeding with the requirement.
