UCHealth: Eye Protection
Nov 13, 2020As the community incidence rate and test positivity rate increase, UCHealth’s infectious disease and infection prevention experts now strongly recommend that all staff and providers wear eye protection in all patient care interactions.
- Goggles or face shields continue to be required when caring for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients along with additional PPE.
- Goggles or face shields are now highly recommended for staff and providers caring for all other patients in both hospital and ambulatory locations.
This recommendation follows CDC guidance that eye protection should be worn during times of high rates of community transmission of COVID-19.
Eye protection has been distributed to clinic managers and PPE distribution sites throughout UCHealth, and the PPE will be assigned to individual employees and providers. The eye protection should be cleaned with standard wipes, and each employee should keep the equipment between shifts.
