Tip of the Week - Include “COVID-19” in the Brief Title for SARS-CoV-2 & COVID-19 Related Studies
Apr 10, 2020NLM has requested that Record Owners conducting SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 related trials include “COVID-19” in the Brief Title of the ClinicalTrials.gov study record. This should be done even if the study’s official title does not include “COVID-19” (the official title will still be entered in the Official Title field, in these cases).
This will allow for participants and other interested parties to easily search for studies related to COVID-19. If the study is not related to SARS-CoV-2, do NOT mention COVID-19 in the Brief Title. Including COVID-19 in this field (e.g. “Study to Assess Safety of Remuveral *Suspended due to COVID-19*”) will cause these trials to show up in searches for COVID-19 trials.
Please also keep in mind that expanded access protocols should only be registered on ClinicalTrials.gov by responsible parties who are both the manufacturer of the product and the sponsor of the protocol.
