Chemical Standard Operating Procedures Library

The chemicals identified below require a completed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) from every laboratory that uses the chemical as part of their research. The SOP templates are designed from chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and are made laboratory specific by the designated laboratory representative. The laboratory representative has the responsibility for completing and SOP for each chemical listed below that is used in the laboratory and modifying SOPs as needed.

Upon completion, a copy of the SOP and the Chemical SOP Signature sheet will be emailed to the laboratory representative to print and file.

Each laboratory member working with the chemical must read and understand the chemical SOP and SDS, and sign the Chemical SOP Signature sheet maintaining copies with the Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) under Appendix A. The CHP must be readily available for inspection.

The Generic Chemical SOP template can cover chemicals which do not qualify for a university Chemical SOP according to University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines and are completed by the laboratories with the aid of the chemical SDS.
