The Cayuse animal facility software allows institution-wide access to animal ordering using a standard web browser. The animal ordering software module provides investigators robust capabilities to manage Animal Order Requests via the internet. It provides flexibility through creating, editing, submitting, viewing and deleting orders from any computer that has been granted access to the Cayuse system.
Access breeding core services
The Comparative Pathology Shared Resource (CPSR) provides in-house clinical pathology services for lab animal biospecimens, and can connect investigators to anatomic pathology resources to maximize the value of each research animal. CPSR offers custom analysis of blood, urine, and other biological samples with training on collection techniques or collaboration with Veterinary Services.
The Office of Laboratory Animal Resources (OLAR) is obligated to recover the costs associated with the procurement and care and use of animals. These costs are billed to investigators on a monthly basis and is based on a cost analysis that is performed yearly that is outlined by the NIH Cost Analysis and Rate Setting Manual for Animal Resource Facilities.
Veterinary technicians host regular hands-on training sessions on topics including handling, restraint, injections, blood collection, and euthanasia. Veterinary staff can also perform customized or advanced training by request.
