How to Apply for Person of Interest (POI) Number for InfoEd eRA System and Cayuse System

Please be aware that processing takes up to 72 hours.

CU affiliates are persons working at Denver Health, UC Health, Colorado Children’s Hospital and the VA. External Users are those not working at a CU Affiliate site.

You can reset your CU password here. Use the reset via email or text option. Enter your CU POI number in the “student/employee ID” field. Enter your CU username in the username field. If this method does not work, please call the CU Help Desk at 303-724-4357.

If asked for an employee ID, give your CU POI number.

If you need to have a Conflict of Interest (COI) form on file with the University of Colorado Denver, complete and submit the Person of Interest (POI) Information Form in order to gain access to the InfoEd eRA research tracking system. A COI declaration must be completed within this electronic system.

Instructions on how to complete your COI disclosure will be emailed to during the process of being given access to the InfoEd system.

If you require a CU Denver email account to work together with a University of Colorado department, please contact that department directly, and ask their departmental Personnel and Payroll Liaison (PPL) for assistance.

Most likely, you will be directed to submit a Sponsored User Registration form to create a new CU Denver username and email address. They will also let you know which Organization Name you should choose in the drop-down list on that form as your Sponsoring Department. It is essential that they know you are submitting this form to them so they can get it approved.

If you are needing a CU Denver email account to work together specifically with COMIRB, complete and submit this Person of Interest (POI) Information Form.

If you are a University of Colorado Student, you can register on the CITI webpage, adding Your Organization Affiliation as the University of Colorado Denver. If in this process you are asked for an Employee or POI number there, you can enter your Student number and it should work fine.

If you are a University of Colorado Employee, you can do the above and if it is asked for, input your Employee ID number.

If you are an employee of a University of Colorado affiliate (Children's Hospital Colorado, Denver Health Medical Center, University of Colorado Hospital, and the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System), you may submit this Person of Interest (POI) Information Form, as a part of the process to gain access to the InfoEd eRA research tracking system. Then once you know your POI number, you can register on the CITI webpage, adding Your Organization Affiliation as the University of Colorado Denver, and if asked for it, your POI number.

If you are neither a Student nor an Employee of the University of Colorado or its affiliates, you can still take CITI training by registering on the CITI webpage, adding Your Organization Affiliation as the University of Colorado Denver, and then if asked for an Employee or POI number simply enter any form of ID number you would like. No University sponsorship is necessary for this registration or access. The different types of numbers described above are only needed for some certification tracking and posting purposes.

CITI Course Affiliation and Registration Instructions 

To obtain access to the UC Denver InfoEd eRA system to work with the Office of Grants and Contracts, all researchers, staff and volunteers with University of Colorado affiliates require the following two-step process:

1. Complete and submit a Person of Interest (POI) Information Form. Once your request is processed, your personal profile will be granted access to the UC Denver Portals.
2. After receiving an email that your POI number has been linked to your UC Denver login, then you should be able to log in! If you would like to move forward with this and believe that we already have a profile for you in the CU systems, please begin with Step 1 anyway. If you already have completed any of this in the past, your information will help us to identify your previously existing records and you will go through the process that much more quickly.

If you require lab access for bench or animal research, speak with the department you will be working together with, as they will serve as your sponsor -- most likely this is a departmental Personnel and Payroll Liaison (PPL).

To obtain access to the CU Denver InfoEd eRA system for a research protocol on file with COMIRB, all researchers, staff and volunteers with University of Colorado affiliates require the following two-step process:

1. Complete and submit a Person of Interest (POI) Information Form. Once your request is processed, your personal profile will be granted access to research data.
2. After receiving an email that your POI number has been linked to your UC Denver login, then you should be able to log in!

For access to the CU Denver Cayuse system to work with the OLAR office, IACUC, researchers, staff and volunteers with University of Colorado affiliates require this two-step process:

1. Complete and submit a Person of Interest (POI) Information Form. Once your request is processed, your personal profile will be granted access to the UC Denver Portals.
2. After receiving an email that your POI number has been linked to your UC Denver login, then you should be able to log in!

Research work is highly regulated and cannot be conducted anonymously. Do not use a false SSN as we require this information for compliance purposes. 

International students may use their CU student ID number as their SSN.

If you are an international applicant and do not have a Student ID number, please use 777-77 followed by the last 4 digits of your passport to create a 9-digit number. Examples: If the last 4 of your passport were 1234, then the 9-digit number would be: 777-77-1234; if the last 4 of your passport were 4567, then the 9-digit number would be: 777-77-4567.

Access to the Strauss Health Sciences Library must be obtained directly from the library. These separate resource groupings are in part with respect to legal obligations of the University, including copyright and breadth of access to University materials. 

If you do not have one already you should be able to obtain a free borrowing card for the libraries, but this will not automatically allow you electronic access if you want it. As a next step for you to see what level of library access you are able to obtain, we recommend that you fill out and submit the application form located on their website.

Then the library staff will be able to look up your information and determine what level of library access you qualify for. If you would like to talk with someone, there are a couple of people listed toward the top of the web page.
