HIPAA Training

General HIPAA Course

All members of the UCD community with access to individually identifiable health information need to be "hip to HIPAA" - the federal law that requires us to protect patient confidentiality. This includes research subjects.

CU: HIPAA Regulations (the General HIPAA Course)

This is mandatory for most of the UCD workforce. As a faculty member, employee, student, trainee, or volunteer of the UCD (or a faculty member who bills through CU Medicine), you should complete this training within 30 days of hire and annually, per fiscal year, thereafter.

New hires must complete HIPAA training within 30 days of their hire date

Access the course via Skillsoft online via the my.cu.edu portal (new window):

  1. Choose the "CU Denver | CU Anschutz" campus tile
  2. Sign in with your credentials, and click the "Skillsoft" tile
  3. Type "HIPAA" into the "Search Content" box at top-right (hit return on your keyboard)
  4. Click the black "Launch" button for "CU: HIPAA Regulations" custom course (40 minutes)
