An introduction to the CU Anschutz Animal Program (IACUC). This course discusses laws and regulations concerning the ethical treatment of research animals.

All new personnel are required to complete four training courses prior to being named on protocols or conducting procedures on animals as part of their animal program access requirements.

Disease Prevention and Control
Discusses standard risks associated with using animals (especially rodents), diseases, and how to help control them in the facility.Standard Operating Procedures

Access Percipio courses
The Percipio courses may be found by logging into your campus/student portal MyCU, opening the course catalog and typing, "OLAR" into the search. You must have either an employee number or Person of Interest number to access Percipio (please contact your department administrator to obtain if necessary). If you are a student worker with no employee number, contact the IACUC office at [email protected] or 303-724-1056 for assistance.

Passing the test
A passing grade of 80% is required for each course.

Verification
Certificates of completion can be emailed to [email protected] or the IACUC/OLAR offices will verify that you have completed the courses.

Post Completion
After the personnel qualifications form is completed and submitted, Occupational Health Program enrollment and clearance are finalized, and all program orientation courses are finished, the individual may be added as an associate on an active protocol. A tour of the animal facility will then be scheduled. Once the tour is completed, badge access will be activated.
PIs are advised to begin the process for themselves/new employees/students as soon as it is known that they will conduct research involving animals: have new employees/students take the training modules detailed above; begin the enrollment in the occupational
health program; generate personnel qualifications forms and submit to the IACUC Office by e-mail at [email protected].
