Volunteers are needed for a research study on the effects of a lifestyle intervention guide called GEM along with CGM and activity monitor aiming to improve metabolic control in people diagnosed with prediabetes.

"SPOTLIGHT": Skeletal Response to Simulated Night Shift

Eligibility:

  • Healthy man or woman (not pregnant) aged 20-40 years old.
  • Premenopausal women must be on continuous oral contraception pills.
  • Habitually sleep 7-9 hours/night.
  • No night shift work in the past year.
  • A non-smoker.

Mini-MED: Foods from the Mediterranean Diet and Health

This trial has a 16 week feeding study of two dietary interventions: Mediterranean-amplified habitual/ Western (mini-MED) diet and a Habitual/Wester (Western) diet. Participation involves biweekly visits to the University of Colorado CTRC over a period of 20 weeks, blood, urine & stool sample collections, and four, 4-week periods with daily consumption of various study foods such as salmon, beef, oatmeal, cheesecake, walnuts, red peppers, avocado & chickpeas.

Does When You Exercise Matter? A Randomized Trial Comparing the Effect of Morning versus Evening Aerobic Exercise on Weight Loss and Compensatory Behaviors

Volunteers are needed for a research study to learn about the best time of day to exercise. Join a University of Colorado research study investigating how exercising in the morning compared to exercising in the evening may affect your body weight, body composition, fitness, and other health outcomes.

ColorAdo ReseArch on Menopause & Early Life Stress Study: Remote Participation (The "CARAMELS At-Home" Study)

Dr. Christina Metcalf at the University of Colorado is investigating how early life experiences affect thinking, mood, and stress during the menopause transition. Study participation consists of five study sessions (all completed virtually from your home), over the course of 2 months. These visits will consist of questionnaires about your mood and some stressful life events; thinking and mood assessments; collection of hair, saliva, and blood microsamples; and a stress task. Participants will receive compensation via e-gift cards for completing study activities.
Eligibility:

  • In late perimenopause or early post-menopause stage.
  • Not taking exogenous hormones.
  • Not taking steroid, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, beta-blocker medications, or certain supplements.
  • Not a smoker.

Understanding How Sleep Affects Recovery from Adolescent Concussion

Control group Eligibility:

  • 13-18 years of age.
  • No pre-existing neurological disorders or exercise contraindications.
  • No concussion <6 months before enrollment

Concussion group Eligibility:

  • 13-18 years of age.
  • Post-Concussion Symptom Inventory (PCSI) score >9.
  • Concussion diagnosis by a sports medicine physician.
  • No pre-existing neurological disorders or exercise contraindications.
  • No concussion <6 months before enrollment.

Contraceptive Hormone and Reward Measurement (CHARM Study)

The study is examining the effects of hormonal oral contraceptives (OCPs) on brain processes and emotional wellbeing. Study participants will: Participate in 3 study sessions, one online and two in-person, over the course of 2 months. Complete interviews and questionnaires Taking an FDA approved oral contraceptive medication or placebo for 21 days. 2 brain imaging sessions 2 blood draws Compensation will be provided for participation in the research study.
Eligibility:

  • A right-handed woman or assigned female at birth.
  • Between 18-45 years old.
  • Taking hormonal birth control.
  • Having regular periods
