Baby Adiposity Study

Baby Adiposity Studies of the Intrauterine Effect of Triglycerides

Eligibility:

  • Pregnant Women between the ages 21-39 years old who live in the Denver Metro Area.
  • Are less than 16 weeks pregnant.
  • Are willing and able to complete home blood tests.
  • Do not have gestational diabetes or high blood pressure.
  • Are non-smokers.

Inhaled Cannabis Study

Inhaled Cannabis, Oxidative Stress and the Pulmonary Innate Immune Response

We are studying what chronic marijuana smoking does to lung health, comparing those who use marijuana to those who do not. Participation involves a thorough pulmonary evaluation by a lung physician by physical exam, chest x-ray, spirometry and bronchoscopy. Volunteers should be between ages 27-55, have no history of heavy alcohol or other recreational drug abuse and no chronic medical conditions.

Colorado Alcohol Research Consortium

We are examining the effects of heavy alcohol and tobacco use on the development of pneumonia and serious pulmonary disease. Participation involves a thorough pulmonary evaluation by a lung physician by physical exam, chest x-ray, spirometry and bronchoscopy. We are looking for control participants: volunteers should be between ages 30-55, have no history of heavy alcohol or recreational drug abuse and no chronic medical conditions.

Eligibility: 

  • Women aged 18-45 years.
  • Pregnancy 1-5 years earlier, not conceived through assisted reproduction or in vitro fertilization.
  • Not currently taking medications to treat high blood pressure or cholesterol.

Dry Eye Symptoms Study

Face Masks, Behavioral and Environmental Modifications, and Dry Eye

A hospital worker at least 18 years of age with self-reported symptoms of dry eye on an initial screening survey (with or without a confirmed clinical diagnosis) and who uses masks at least 80% of the time during a shift that is longer than 6 hours.

MANATEE-T1D Study

Seeking adolescent volunteers between the age of 12 and 21 years with Type 1 Diabetes for a study to investigate how hybrid closed loop artificial pancreas systems combined with insulin sensitizing agent metformin impact blood sugar control, the body's response to insulin, and kidney and cardiovascular function when compared to individuals who are only receiving treatment with multiple daily insulin injections.


Influence of Combined Oral Contraceptives Study

The Influence of Combined Oral Contraceptives on Weight, Body Composition, Eating Behaviors, and Appetite in Pre-menopausal Women with Overweight or Obesity

Female volunteers (age 18-40 years, BMI 25-40 kg/m2) needed for a pilot study to assess changes in body weight, body composition, eating behaviors, and appetite over 6 months of using a combined estrogen/progestin birth control pill compared to non-hormonal contraceptives.

ColorAdo ReseArch on Menopause & Early Life Stress Study: Remote Participation (The "CARAMELS At-Home" Study)

  • In late perimenopause or early post-menopause stage.
  • Not taking exogenous hormones.
  • Not taking steroid, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, beta-blocker medications, or certain supplements.
  • Not a smoker.
  • Eligible participants will receive compensation via e-gift cards for completing study activities.
