ORCID Campaign

A campus-wide initiative for researchers to register with ORCID, the global researcher ID that enables scholarship tracking and attribution and is increasingly required by funders and publishers. The CRIO office is coordinating integration of ORCID into campus systems, such as for maintaining faculty profiles and grant submissions.

CU Anschutz Data

Integrated and well-managed biomedical data benefits researchers and is key to driving research. The CRIO Council and working groups are helping drive data-enabled research with the following initiatives:

Virtual Biobank: Integration of systems and data from existing biobanks and clinical data sources will enable improved cohort discovery, study planning, and resource discovery.

Data Security: A key goal of the CRIO is to enable risk-aware security and compliance processes for research and data management that make it easy for researchers to do the right thing. The CRIO office, in collaboration with other stakeholders, is currently coordinating a landscape evaluation of existing activities and risk assessments to inform improved compliant data storage and compute environments.

Data Sharing Agreements: The CRIO office is currently evaluating existing agreements with commercial partners to inform design of a more streamlined process for public-private partnerships and other data sharing initiatives. The goal is to make good scientific and good business decisions, more efficiently.

Research Computing: A new CRIO working group has been focusing on identifying requirements and implementation goals for High Performance Computing (HPC) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) provisioning.

NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy

Outlines the requirements and processes for the new NIH funding requirement starting January 25. The Final NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing (NOT-OD-21-013) will require researchers to include a data management and sharing (DMS) plan in funding applications. In preparation for the policy implementation, the RIO team has developed a support page organizing requirements, learning tools, and submission details.
