October 6, 2020 Research Bulletin

Volume 1, Issue 10
Dear Research Community Colleagues,

Thank you all for your continued help and support as we carefully monitor COVID-19 and the impact on our research community.  These last few months have reminded us of change, collaboration and flexibility more than ever.  We are steadfast in our ramp up of clinical and laboratory research during this “new normal.”

We are excited to announce that UCHealth is partnering with the Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board (COMIRB) providing review and oversight of UCHealth human participant research effective October 1, 2020.  COMIRB already oversees human participant research for the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus and its affiliated hospitals, including University of Colorado Hospital.  With the addition of the rest of the UCHealth system, COMIRB will now provide unified support for all UCHealth research sites.

UCHealth Research Administration and John Heldens, Director of COMIRB, are working with the UCHealth IRB, investigators, and their research teams to effect this change over the coming months.  We don’t anticipate any change in operations, existing timelines or faculty support services currently provided by COMIRB.

This new change is another great example of partnership and collaboration that propels our broad research community.

Sincerely,
Thomas Flaig, MD
Vice Chancellor for Research
